Some few months back, I put up a write up on the health benefits of drinking lemon water daily .you can read up the post to be up to speed .Today a friend send me a mail on the amazing usefulness of frozen lemon and I will like to share the information with you.
Get a fresh lemon, and wash it very well and place in the freezer.Once frozen,get your grater and grate the whole lemon and sprinkle it on top of your foods,like vegetables,salad ,ice cream,soup, cereals ,noodles ,spaghetti sauce,rice ,fish dishes etc.All the food will get an unexpected wonderful taste.
Whats the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your dishes?Lemon peals contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself.lemon peels are health rejuvenators in eradicating toxic elements in the body.
The lemon plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types it is considered also as an antimicrobial spectrum against bacterial infection and fungi,effective against internal parasites and worms.It regulates blood pressure and an antidepressant combats stress and nervous disorders.
following several laboratory test since 1970  ,the lemon extracts was seen to destroy malignant cells in 12 cancers ,including colon,breast, prostrate ,lung and pancreas .The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better effect than the product  Adriamycin,a drug normally used for chemotherapy in the world slowing the growth of cancer cells and what is more astonishing .this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells .
So give those lemons a good wash ,freeze them and grate them your whole body will love you for it.

There are a lot of commercially prepared coconut oil sold in most supermarkets but the problem with commercially prepared coconut oil is that one is not too clear on the substances that may have been added as preservatives .it is allways advisable to prepare your own coconut oil since the process is straight forward and equally quite easy to follow.
The reason I would want you to try and follow this do-it-yourself process of making coconut oil ,is so that you can enjoy the full health benefits of pure coconut lets get started

  1. Coconut about 5
  2. Grater
  3. a sieve
  4. bowl
  5. pot
  6. warm water
Crack the hard part of the coconut and brink out the soft inner side.
wash very well,and using the most tiny part of the grater, grate the coconut to very tiny almost powdery form.
Add warm water to the grated coconut.The amount of water added should be enough to bring out the milkiness of the coconut. squeeze the grated coconut very well and transfer the coconut chaff to another container and add more warm water and squeeze  more to ensure that all the milky part of the coconut is completely removed
Then pour the milky extraction through a sieve to remove all coconut chaff.
Place the extraction in a pot and cover it.
Allow it to stand for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, when you open the pot,you will see  that the milky portion of the coconut extract has collected at the top with clear water under.
collect this top milky portion carefully with a cooking spoon into a small cooking pot.
biol this milky portion under low heat.after a few minute you will begin to see the oil emerging.
Once the oil in the pot is very clear,remove from the fire and allow to cool
pour the pure coconut oil into a bottle, and it is ready for use.
As you can see making coconut oil is not really a complex process. so try making it and let me have your comments on any challenges you may have encountered or if you know other ways of making it that is simpler than the process I have just outlined.

 Coconut oil can be used topically as well. Studies have shown it to be effective as a skin moisturizer and protecting against hair damage .it can also be used as a mouth wash.
In this posting, I am going to give you a recipe on how to use coconut oil to make a moisturizing/conditioning facial mask which if used consistently will serve to keep you face looking younger.

  • 1 Tbsp pure coconut oil
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tbsp honey 
  • 1/2 squeezed lemon
  • Aloe Vera
Mash avocado in a mortar or medium sized porcelain or wooden bowl with a pestle or masher
Put in the coconut oil,lemon and honey.
Stir mixture until it becomes semi creamy.for a creamer consistency use a food processor or blender
Cut a portion of aloe Vera stem approx 4-6 inches  long split stem along the side and squeeze juice into the coconut oil mixture .
cover the entire face and leave on face for about 30-45 mins and rinse off with warm water and then cold water. then proceed with your normal makeup.excess mixture can be stored in refrigerator  and used daily.
Mixture can last for 5 to 7 days in refrigerator.
As you can see ,this is a completely natural home made beauty treatment for the ladies.but it can only work for you if you use it consistently and  daily.after a few weeks you will begin to see the beautiful transformation it gives to your face.Try this and see if it works for you.See you in my next posting.please don't hesitate to drop your comments or contributions on other practical uses of coconut oil.

Coconut oil is a popular nutritional oil derived from mature coconut.Its various industrial and cosmetic applications has made it a very viable commodity .coconut oil is heat stable , making it suitable for cooking at a high temperature .It is slow to oxidise ,resist rancidity and has a shelve life of approximately two years or more .

Almost 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil is 12-carbon lauric acid .When coconut oil is enzymatically digested it also forms a monoglyceride called monolaurin.
Both lauric acid and monolaurin   can kill bacteria ,viruses and fungi helping to shelve off infections of the body for example these substances have been shown to kill the bacteria staphylococcus aureus and the yeast candida albicans a common cause of yeast infection in humans .
Taking the oil daily has been shown to reduce hunger pangs making you eat less without even trying .This may be due to the way the fatty acids in it are metabolised to ketone bodies which has an appetite reducing effect.This activity of coconut oil may positively affect body weight over the long term
The saturated fats in coconut oil raises the HDL- cholesterol which is the good cholesterol and also changes the composition of the LDL- cholesterol which is the bad cholesterol.
Coconut oil ,positively affect thyroid  hormones which help to increase metabolism ,energy and endurance .It increases digestion and helps to absorb fat soluble vitamins.
Finally, people who take coconut oil regularly also tend to have improvement in how they handle blood sugar since coconut can help improve coconut oil within the body.
Two teaspoons of coconut oil taken twice daily is okay as a daily healthy habit BUT REMEMBER GOOD HEALTH IS A CONTINUOUS HABIT NOT AN EVENT.
